Emergency Lighting

The loss of power could be down to a fire or a power cut or even a fault. This will probably lead to complete darkness which could cause your office employees or yourself a potential hazard through trip hazards or even just panic.
Emergency Lighting Placement
Emergency lighting is normally placed in a way as to help occupants leave the building in a safe manner. Normally emergency lights would be situated along corridors above doors in offices and exits. The design of light these days can vary from the basic florescent to the more aesthetically pleasing designer light, each with varying degrees of illumination.
Whatever emergency light you choose to have, all commercial buildings must have emergency lighting fitted in accordance with British Standards, IEE wiring regulations and local authorities, this can be in many forms but normally it is broken down into two aspects:
Emergency Escape Lighting
The part of a lighting circuit that provides light for the safety of people leaving a location or attempting to terminate a potentially dangerous process beforehand. It is part of the fire safety provision of a building and a requirement of The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
Emergency Route Lighting
That part of a lighting circuit, which provides to ensure that the means of escape can be effectively identified and safely used by occupants of the building. Also known as running men, typically a light/sign that shows you with an arrow where the exit route is.
